Overview

On 2 August 2025, Penerbitan Buku Pena (PBP) delivered the Tesis Jadi Buku™ online workshop for academics and postgraduate authors. The half-day session focused on practical editorial thinking and clear techniques for reshaping research into reader-oriented writing. The programme was led by Dr. Nabilaa Mohamed.

Participation and Registration

The official registration log recorded 21 sign-ups. Of these, 16 participants uploaded payment proof, confirming their places for the session. Registrants represented a cross-section of Malaysia’s and the region’s higher-education community, strengthening PBP’s institutional reach. Notable affiliations included:

  1. Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)
  2. Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS)
  3. Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)
  4. Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM)
  5. Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM)
  6. UNITAR International University
  7. Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM)
  8. Kolej Tingkatan Enam KPM Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

Professional profiles among registrants were lecturers (5), researchers (3), teachers (3), students (2), and other public-service or specialist roles. This spread indicates demand from both university staff and pre-university educators seeking structured guidance in academic writing.

Discovery channels recorded in the form show WhatsApp (7) and email (3) as the primary sources of awareness, followed by supervisor referrals and Instagram/Threads, confirming the effectiveness of PBP’s direct communication and peer recommendation routes.

Post-Event Evaluation

Eight participants submitted structured feedback after the workshop. Headline findings:

  1. Average satisfaction: 4.12/5
  2. Objective fulfilment: 50% fully achieved, 37.5% partially achieved, 12.5% uncertain
  3. Module feedback: 62.5% “very helpful and easy to follow,” 37.5% “helpful but needs improvement”
  4. Presenter feedback: 62.5% “very clear, engaging and energetic,” 25% “clear and helpful,” 12.5% “average”

Qualitative responses highlighted three consistent gains: clearer understanding of how thesis material should be reframed for publication, improved confidence in structuring literature and conceptual flow, and stronger awareness of editorial style for broader readership.

Learning Themes and Next Steps

Participants asked for more time on practical exercises and additional case studies, with several requesting follow-up clinics for manuscript-specific coaching. These insights will inform the next cohort design, with an extended format and a live, guided “chapter re-build” segment.

Brand Positioning Outcome

The combined evidence from institution-level registrations, confirmed payments, and positive post-event ratings reinforces Penerbitan Buku Pena’s standing as a trusted academic training provider to multiple Malaysian universities and related organisations. PBP will continue to document outcomes with the same data-led approach to support institutional reporting and future partnerships.
